Caution regarding fire in dry conditions, Elanora
Elanora Police Beat were patrolling on Guineas Creek Road when they saw smoke from a fire.
After a few minutes they located the source of the fire in a street off Murtha Drive.
A resident was putting the fire out with his garden hose and advised police that it has started from a cigarette butt.
The resident had been clearing the area of dry foliage when the fire started.
All residents are warned to be vigilant and careful about fires and the current fire ban which is in place in the Gold Coast until October 2.
A fire like this could easily have gotten out of control quickly in these dry conditions. Luckily someone was on hand to stop it before it got any bigger.
