Commemorate National Police Remembrance Day with us

National Police Remembrance Day Ceremonies and Marches will be held throughout the Far North on Friday September 29

September 29 date claimer: Members of the public are welcome to attend ceremonies in support of their local police.

National Police Remembrance Day (NPRD) marks the day the Queensland Police Service, joins other Australasian police jurisdictions to stop and honour fallen officers. Arguably one of the most important days on the policing calendar, NPRD is a time for members of the Service and the community to remember, honour and say ‘thank you’ to the dedicated men and women who have died while on duty.

NPRD has been held in regional centres throughout Queensland since 1989. It has now become a tradition for uniformed and plain clothes police officers, together with staff members to participate in these ceremonies.

Police Remembrance Day is observed annually in September as it marks the Feast of the Archangel, St Michael, who was always fighting evil.

This year, marches and services will be held this year on Friday September 29 throughout the Far North District.

Local QPS personnel, which will include administrative staff, police liaison officers, specialist officers from uniform first response, plain clothes, Dog Squad including our local police dogs, will attend local memorial services throughout the Far North District.

Members of the public are most welcome at all ceremonies to support local officers during the march on Friday, September 29.
