Dangerous driving charge, Coomera

Dangerous driving charge, Coomera

Police have charged a man with dangerous driving following a crash at Coomera overnight.

It will be alleged that around 9.30pm, a car was allegedly speeding south on the M1 Pacific Motorway at Coomera, weaving in and out of traffic in the far two lanes.

When the car allegedly merged from the fourth lane into the third, it failed to give way to the car in front.

As a result, the car allegedly rear-ended the one in front of it, causing it (the car in front) to veer to the right, hit a guard rail and flip onto its roof.

The first car skidded for approximately fifty metres before losing control and spinning 360 degrees on the roadway before coming to a stop.

Its driver and sole occupant – a 23-year-old Eagleby man – sustained cuts and abrasions and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for observation.

The driver and sole occupant of the second car – a 31-year-old Kedron woman – was also taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for observation.

A 23-year-old man has been issued with a Notice to Appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on September 15 to answer the charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving unregistered, driving an unsafe vehicle, using a vehicle with a registration plate belonging to another, learner driver failing to comply with requirements, driving without L plates, driving uninsured and contravene direction or requirement.
