Dangerous operation and drink drive charges, Manunda
A 24-year-old Parramatta Park man has been charged following traffic related incidents at Manunda yesterday.
It will be alleged the man was driving his car along Fallon Street at around 2:15pm when he performed a ‘burnout’ manoeuvre before proceeding on the intersection of Fallon and Eureka Streets where he performed a number of ‘donut’ manoeuvres before driving off along Eureka Street.
The man subsequently lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete kerbing before crashing through the fence of an adjacent secondary school.
It will be further alleged that the man then performed further ‘donut’ manoeuvres on the school oval before exiting the school grounds, parking the vehicle on Eureka Street and fleeing on foot.
A police patrol observed the man running out of bushland on Grove Street shortly afterward and he was taken into custody.
The man was transported to the Cairns Police station where he allegedly returned a breath alcohol reading of 0.157 BAC upon completion of a breath test.
He was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and high range drink driving, and is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 27.
