Deprivation of liberty, serious assault police – Surfers Paradise
Gold Coast Police have a man in custody in relation to a deprivation of liberty and assault incident in Surfers Paradise early this morning (August 26).
Around 12:30am, it is alleged a 29-year-old man at an address on Hanlan Street attempted to flood the inside of a residence and set fire to a number of items in a room.
A woman in her twenties attempted to leave, however it will be further alleged the man threatened her with knives and forcibly prevented her from leaving.
Police attended a short time later and it will be further alleged whilst attempting to restrain the man he became violent and spat at police.
The woman was uninjured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.
