Drug operation, Curra
Police have issued two people with a notice to appear following the execution of a search warrant at a rural property in Curra this morning.
At approximately 6am today officers from the Sunshine Coast Tactical Crime Squad executed a search warrant at an address on Thomas Road with the assistance of Wide Bay Tactical Crime Squad, State Crime Command’s Illicit Laboratory Investigation Team and personnel from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.
It will be alleged during the search of the property police located an underground bunker, in the form of a buried shipping container.
Police will allege the container had been used for producing methylamphetamine on a number of occasions over a period of time.
It will be further alleged a quantity of glassware and chemicals associated with the production of methylamphetamine were also seized for further forensic examination, as well as a quantity of illegal fireworks.
A 33-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman have been served with a notice to appear at the Gympie Magistrates Court on September 11, 2017 for the offences of possessing relevant items (Drugs Misuse Act) and possess explosives.
Investigations are continuing.
