Explosive material located, Gordonvale
Police have declared an exclusion zone under the Public Safety Preservation Act following the location of suspected explosive material at a property in Gordonvale.
At around 1:44pm yesterday emergency services responded to reports of an explosion at an address on Templeton Street.
A 43-year-old man was transported to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment of injuries to his hand.
Following investigations of the scene an exclusion zone was declared at 2:23pm yesterday in a 50 metre radius from Templeton Street, as specialist officers examined the scene.
Officers remain on the scene today as investigations continue. The exclusion zone also remains in place.
