Fatal traffic crash – Hope Island

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a bicycle collided with a car at Hope Island earlier this morning.

Initial investigations indicate that around 9.15am the male cyclist was travelling in a westerly direction along Hope Island Road when he collided with the rear of a parked and unoccupied car.

The impact caused the rider to be thrown from his bike.

The 75-year-old rider died at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing.
