Fraud offences throughout Queensland
Police are seeking public assistance to locate a man who may be able to assist in relation to a number of fraud offences in Queensland.
Investigations indicate a man has attended seven tyre or tobacco businesses in the Gold Coast, Caboolture, Gympie, Cairns, Toowoomba and Nambour.
The man contacts the business in person or over the phone pretending to be a tyre or cigarette wholesaler. He then attends the business to receive payment in cash and sometimes has arranged for the items to be delivered by a legitimate wholesaler at the same time. He leaves the business with the cash payment whilst the items are unloaded.
Five of the offences have occurred in the last month however one occurred in February at Nerang and during March at Surfers Paradise.
He is described as having an olive complexion, 177cm tall with brown hair and a large build. He speaks with a slight accent. He is believed to be currently travelling in a white corolla although he has used other cars.
Anyone who recognises the man or has further information is urged to contact police.
