Schools from around the Far North were invited at the beginning of the school year, with a number of schools taking up the offer to attend other session times throughout the day.

The EXPO session at 11am is open to the public and will demonstrate trapped motorists with simulated injuries and rescue exercise.

Attendees will hear from QFES Road Crash Rescue, Paramedics and Forensic Crash Investigations about their role in the rescue, treatment plan of patients on site and the subsequent police investigation.

Mrs Sharon Roneberg will also address the audience and talk about how the death of her daughter Tanya, has changed her life and the lives of her family forever. Tanya was 37 when she died after being hit by a drink driver on an early morning bike ride on the Captain Cook Highway in May 2013.

Agency displays from Police Road Policing Unit, Forensic Crash Unit, Crime Prevention, QFES, QAS, TMR, Drive2Live and Cairns BUG will focus on road safety in the far north and will have plenty of information for members of the public.

NOTE:  Rating is for mature audiences 15+ only and not suitable for young children. The demonstration will consist of graphic images, screaming and loud machinery to simulate a serious traffic crash with injuries and a rescue operation.
