Golf buggy driver caught over the legal limit, Babinda
A Babinda man was charged with drink driving after he was intercepted whilst “puttering” along in a golf buggy along Mill Street, Babinda on Friday August 18.
Babinda police stopped the golf buggy around 6:30pm on Friday August 18, and submitted the driver a 43-year-old Babinda to a breath test.
The man allegedly returned a reading of 0.126 per cent BAC.
The motorised vehicle was not registered. He was charged with one count each of drink driving and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle. He is scheduled to appear at the Cairns Magistrates Court on August 23.
Police want to remind people that road rules apply to all vehicles – including golf buggies. It is illegal to drive a golf buggy after consuming alcohol.
The laws relating to drink-driving are the same for all vehicles.
