Far Northern District police are seeking assistance from the public to locate a local 20-year-old man Rangi Fyfe (pictured), who may be able to assist with their inquiries into a series of incidents over the past six weeks.

At about 9pm on Tuesday night,  police attempted to intercept a man near the intersection of the Kennedy Highway and Fallon Road at Kuranda.

Officers successfully deployed a tyre deflation device however the man continued driving the stolen vehicle a short distance before jumping from the car and fleeing into rain forest on foot.

Police are also investigating a number of possibly related offences including the theft of a utility from Wonga Beach on August 17 and a caravan from Mowbray some days later.

Police are advising the public against approaching the man, anyone sighting him is urged to call Triple Zero (000).
