High speeds continue on Tallebudgera Connection Road
Police responding to complaints about vehicle speeds in the early morning in Tallebudgera intercepted a motorcyclist doing 95 km/h in the 60 km/h zone. It took some time to intercept the rider who was wearing headphones under his helmet. The rider was issued with an infringement notice for $420 and incurred a loss of four demerit points.
Police intercepted a motorcycle travelling 35 km/h over the speed limit.
Another vehicle which was the subject of a complaint was also intercepted and dealt with by police along with a number of random breath tests.
Police are disappointed that the high speeds continue along this stretch of road which is a popular area for koalas, cyclists and horses.
A vehicle travelling at 90 km/h will travel 38 metres before the driver reacts and a whopping 83 metres stopping distance.
Locals in the area are considering a petition to have the speed lowered along the street. It appears there is a long standing culture of speeding along the road which is well signed and regularly enforced.
