Looking for CHAMP volunteers and mentors Elanora
Elanora Police Beat working with Sergeant Linda Baade from the Gold Coast PCYC are working to bring the CHAMP (Channelling Healthy Aggression Mentoring Program) program to the Southern Gold Coast and need volunteers and a boxing coach.
CHAMP is for young people at risk and young offenders.
The program involves a boxing coach delivering a training session along with an appropriately matched mentor.
The program is delivered for a one hour session twice a week.
A facility has been identified and is ready for use, the program participants are ready and waiting all that is needed is some volunteers who can give an hour or two a week to spend some time with these young people.
The program participants are between 14-25 years of age, volunteers can be any age but will need to pass the screening process which includes being qualified for a Blue Card.
Any qualified boxing coach who could donate sometime would also be welcomed.
It is hoped that the program can commence for a trial in November depending on finding the appropriate mentors and volunteers.
Any inquiries can be made by contacting Senior Constable Kurt Foessel, Elanora Police Beat 5569-8488 or Foessel.KurtK@police.qld.gov.au.
