Moranbah police support Queensland Mental Health Week
Moranbah Police are delighted to have been involved in a number of community activities and events during Queensland Mental Health Week which runs from October 8 until October 14. This week is an opportunity for members of the community to acknowledge the importance of mental health and well being.
We had the opportunity to take part in Mental Health First Aid training organised by Cherie Miller and the Isaac Suicide Prevention Group, run by Ben Higgs from Rise Foundation Australia. The training was attended by officers from Moranbah Police Station along with representatives from Moranbah mines and the Moranbah community.
It was a great learning experience for all involved with the opportunity to share experiences and gain knowledge on a subject that is becoming more and more prevalent in day to day policing.
We also had the pleasure of attending the Queensland Mental Health Week Breakfast held at Moranbah State High School. This event was extremely well attended by the Moranbah community who had the opportunity to listen to guest speakers talking on the subject.
It really has been a fantastic opportunity for us to get involved in a number of fantastic initiatives to support a really important week on the Queensland Calendar.
