Police have a cupcake for a cause

There is never a dull moment at the Cairns Police station but a cupcake with some sprinkles always manages to brings a smile, especially when it is for a good cause.
Police administration staff and officers were busy baking at home on Tuesday night to help put together a range of treats to raise money for the Young Animal Protection Society (YAPS).

Administration officer and organiser Marie Pierce was pleased with the amount of money raised.
“We had a wonderful display of treats on offer and we ended up raising over $500,” Marie said.
“Not everyone was fond of a cupcake but they were still willing to donate which was fantastic!
“I want to extend a big thank you to everyone who gave up their time to bake the delicious treats.
“Throughout the year we run a number of small fundraisers for local charities and causes, we never have any trouble finding volunteers to help out and we are always amazed by the generosity of those willing to donate.”
