Police paws for a good cause
Cairns police station was yesterday bombarded with dogs, sheep, chickens and pigs…all in the cupcake variety and all in the name of a good cause.
Volunteer cooks busily cooked up a storm to turn out two tables full of tasty delights.
Coordinated by administration officer Marie Pierce, hungry staff came from far and wide to purchase cakes and slices for the RSPCA cupcake day.
Now in her fourth year of organising the event at the Cairns Police Station, Marie said that this was by far the best one yet.
“I had so many wonderful volunteers willing to bake that we struggled for room on the tables,” said Marie Pierce.
“Those watching their waist lines were more than happy to make a donation. This year we raised a whopping $885, the most we have ever raised so far.
“A big thank you is extended to all of my bakers and those that came along to show their support. We look forward to running another great event next year”.
