Queensland Road Safety Week – Fatigue
Today’s theme is fatigue – don’t drive tired. Speak up for road safety and avoid fatigue as part of Queensland Road Safety Week.
Fatigue is a particular issue in Queensland, with the vast distances between some towns making it all the more important for drivers to plan their trips, particularly truck drivers who are regularly doing the long hauls.
Wake up to fatigue
• After work, hit the couch not the road. Avoid driving when you’re tired.
• 10 hours a day is the maximum you should drive.
• On long trips, rest every two hours for at least 15 minutes
Visit Join The Drive for event information and to find out how you can get involved and follow the conversation on social media using the hashtag #SpeakUpforRoadSafety.
Queensland Road Safety Week is a chance for all Queenslanders to be involved in making our roads safer.
‘Speaking up for road safety’ is the focus and we’re encouraging the whole community to have their say.
Communities, schools, sporting groups and workplaces are encouraged to support the Week through hosting local events or sharing road safety information among staff, students, colleagues, family and friends.
You can share a personal story, suggest a road safety tip, talk to your kids, family and friends about staying safe, or make a pledge to improve just one thing to be safer on the road.
Each day of the Week will focus on different road safety issues, kicking off with speed on Monday, drink and drug driving on Tuesday, distractions, seatbelts and child restraints on Wednesday, sharing the road on Thursday and fatigue on Friday.
