Road safety moves to Central State School
It is not too often you can get close and personal with a police push bike, but that is what all the students at Central State School were able to do yesterday for Queensland Road Safety Week.
The very active and may I say, fit Bike Squad officers popped in to the school parade. Joining them there was Ryan Corry who had assisted police in selecting bike helmets for some of the students.
Mackay City Inspector Ian Haughton and Officer in Charge of Mackay Station Senior Sergeant Jeremy Novosel were on hand to direct operations but the students were as always pleased to see their now famous Adopt-a-Cop Constable Clinton Skillington.
Thursday’s theme for Queensland Road Safety Week was all about sharing the road and giving all traffic, trucks, motorbikes, cyclists and pedestrians, the space they need to operate in.
The students at Central State School are sure to be ready for their next trip out and about on the great cycle paths in Mackay especially the Blue Water Trail.
Thanks to Principal Sarah Mutton and all the teaching staff for allowing us invade their busy school day.
