Robbery, Hawthorne
Police have released images of a man dressed in a towel and a straw hat who robbed a business at Hawthorne this afternoon.
At around 2pm a man entered the store on Hawthorne Road, approached the counter and demanded money from an employee, claiming he was armed with a firearm.
The 23-year-old male store attendant complied and handed over a sum of cash.
The man then fled the scene on foot.
Police have released CCTV images of the man who is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his late twenties and around 175cm tall.
He was wearing a large sombrero-style straw hat with a blue singlet, blue shorts, thongs and had a pale towel featuring the Australian flag wrapped around him.
Police are appealing for anyone who may recognise the man or have further information about the incident to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
The store employee was not injured as a result of the incident.
