Robbery, Thuringowa
Police have charged a man after a robbery incident at Thuringowa early this afternoon (August 12).
At about 1.13pm, a man entered a business at a shopping centre on Hervey Range Road where it is alleged he pushed over a female staff member prior to grabbing a number of bottles of alcohol from the shelf.
It is further alleged that whilst attempting to leave the store, the man pushed the staff member again, causing the woman to fall over and several bottles of alcohol on display to smash.
On exiting the store, the man was confronted by an off duty police officer where it is alleged the man threw several bottles at the officer prior to being restrained.
The staff member and the officer received minor injuries only.
A 21-year-old Rasmussen man has been charged with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, robbery with violence and common assault.
The man is also charged with an additional one count each of robbery and evade taxi fare and two counts of stealing in relation to other matters.
He is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on August 14.
