Senior Constable West is the top Adopt-a-Cop in the North
Congratulations Senior Constable Damien West on taking out the award for top Adopt-a-Cop of the year for the Far North.
Senior Constable West has been the Adopt-a-Cop at Saint Therese’s School at Bentley Park for the past five years. Stationed at the Cairns Road Policing Unit, Senior Constable West takes time out of his busy schedule and personal time at attend his adopted school on a regular basis.
Senior Constable West attends the school fete, conducts class presentations, monitors the stop, drop and go zones during pick-up times and even gives up his time to coach school sporting teams.
He is well respected by students, parents and teaching staff at the school.
“Damien is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and always goes out of his way to address the specific needs of our school,” Assistant Principal Administrator Jacqueline Jackson said.
“He always finds a way to build positive relationships with the school community and maintains a regular presence at our school as both a parent and an adopt-a-cop.
Senior Constable West will now be in the running for the State Award for Adopt-a-Cop of the year which will be announced in Brisbane on the 26th of October.
