Serious truck crash, Burpengary East
Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating a serious truck crash which occurred in the southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway at Burpengary East this morning.
Initial inquires indicate at 6.30am, a semi-trailer lost control near the Arthur Drewett Drive overpass and travelled from the left lane across the other two lanes and hit the concrete median barrier.
The driver’s door has come open and the driver has been thrown from the vehicle onto the roadway.
The truck has continued along the road and came to a stop about three hundred meters down the road in the right hand lane. No other vehicles were hit during the incident.
The driver and sole occupant, a man in his fifties, was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or people with relevant dashcam vision to contact police.
