Surfers Paradise police support Queensland Road Safety Week
A key focus of the Queensland Police Service is road safety. As this week is Queensland Road Safety Week (QRSW), Surfers Paradise police used the opportunity to highlight safety at pedestrian crossings.
As Surfers Paradise has a number of road crossing with high pedestrian traffic, it is important for all road users, including pedestrians, to use care and caution around the crossings. Police do have the authority to issue Traffic Infringement Notices to any person disobey a red pedestrian light. The current fine is $50.
Today, Volunteer in Policing Julie and some assistants, used Queensland Road Safety Week to reward pedestrians following the road rules. Those who obeyed the road rules were rewarded with goodies such as free food vouchers thanks to McDonalds Gold Coast, and QRSW key rings from Join the Drive.
Senior Sergeant Jim Munckton, Officer in Charge Surfers Paradise Police asks visitors and residents in the Surfers Paradise area to keep safe and obey the road rules, it may save your life.
