Suspect counterfeit note identified in Moranbah
A staff member from a business in Moranbah attended to the Moranbah police station this morning with a suspect counterfeit $5 note which was found in their own cash supplies.
Colouring, size, shape, clear window cuts, feel and identification numbers lead the staff member and police officers to suspect it to be counterfeit currency. The note has been seized for further examination.
Police warn businesses across the district to be willing to scrutinize notes received – past experience has shown many staff members first suspect counterfeit notes when the notes are touched before being visually inspected.
If you suspect you have received a counterfeit note, contact your local police as soon as possible. If the person who presented the note is present, ask that they remain until the arrival of police. They may be able to assist with information relating to where the note was received and who it was received from.
Any one who has information in relation to this matter is encouraged to call the Moranbah police station on 0749 416 200 or you can call Crime Stoppers any time of the day on 1800 333 000. The police reference number is QP1701874649.
