Drugs, Mareeba:  A 19-year-old man from Smithfield has been charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug utensils, possession of a weapon and driving whilst unlicensed after police located a vehicle parked at the Mareeba lookout.

Patrolling police located the man parked in a vehicle at the lookout at 9:00pm on Tuesday night.

A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly located a quantity of cannabis, a drug utensil and a machete.

The man is scheduled to appear at the Mareeba Magistrates Court on September 11.

Drug Drivers, Mareeba: With Road Safety Week currently in full swing people are still persisting to endanger themselves and the general public by using drugs and then driving.

Mareeba Road Policing Unit intercepted three drivers on Tuesday that allegedly had relevant drugs in their system.  The drivers were all intercepted in Mareeba between 12:00pm and 6:30pm.

A 49-year-old woman from Mareeba, a 33-year-old-woman from Ravenshoe and a 23-year-old man from Mareeba will all appear in Court at a later date once confirmatory analysis is completed.

Police are again reminding motorists that drug driving is one of the fatal five and increases the likelihood of being involved in a crash.
