Drug driving, Walkamin: Police have charged a local man after a traffic intercept in Walkamin on Wednesday morning.

It will be alleged Police intercepted the 19-year-old P1 plater on the Kennedy Highway at about 8:40am and when required to provide a roadside drug test, he returned a positive reading.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on a later date, charged with one count of drug driving.

Assault, Kuranda: Police have charged a local man after an incident in Kuranda on Wednesday morning.

It will be alleged the 26-year-old man has approached another male known to him on Thongon Street at about 10:20am and punched him a number of times.

Police will also allege that the Kuranda man committed a public nuisance offence on Monday evening, September 4 at an address on Greenhills Road, Kuranda.

The man is scheduled to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court today, charged with one count each of common assault, commit public nuisance and breach of bail.

Public Nuisance, Mareeba: Police have charged a local man after an incident in Mareeba on Wednesday afternoon.

It will be alleged the 22-year-old man has been walking along O’Donnell Street, Mareeba swearing and verbally threatening people at about 4:35pm when people have been leaving a sporting organisation.

The man is scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on September 25, charged with one count of commit public nuisance.

Drink driving, Mareeba: Police have charged a local man after a traffic incident in Mareeba on Wednesday evening.

It will be alleged Police intercepted the 50-year-old man on Byrnes Street at about 8.00pm after being involved in a traffic crash. When Police required him to provide a roadside breath test, he returned a reading of 0.101 per cent BAC.

It will also be alleged that the man was driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle at the time and he was also driving without L plates attached to his vehicle.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on a later date, charged with one count each of drink driving, driving unregistered, driving uninsured and driving unaccompanied.
