Tablelands weekend wrap, Monday October 23
Noise complaints, Tablelands: Police would like to remind people about loud noises from their residences after a number of noise complaints over the weekend.
If you feel that your neighbours are playing their music too loud or there is a lot of yelling and loud voices coming from an address, you have every right to ask for it to be turned down.
In the first instance you should ask your neighbours nicely to turn the music or loud voices down. If this does not work then please call Policelink on 13 14 44 to report the noise.
Police will investigate to see if the noise is too loud regardless of the time of day or night and if too loud a noise abatement direction will be given.
Noise abatement directions are for 96 hours or four days and this means that if issued one, you are not able to omit any noise for that period.
If this direction is issued and you fail to comply, your stereo can be confiscated and you will be issued with a notice to appear in court.
Is the music worth it? Or is it easier to turn the volume down!
If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.
You can report information about crime anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a registered charity and community volunteer organisation, by calling 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppersqld.com.au 24hrs per day.
