Multiple charges, Tablelands: Police have charged a man after a number of incidents in the Far North recently.

It will be alleged that police attended an address in Kairi at about 10.30am on Friday morning in relation to a stolen vehicle and the 29-year-old man ran from police before being arrested a short distance away. Police will also allege that the man was responsible for a number of stealing offences as well as two dangerous operations of a motor vehicle, which involved damage to a police vehicle in Cairns last week.

The man is scheduled to reappear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court later today, charged with 16 new offences.

Public nuisance, Atherton: Police have charged a Malanda man after an incident in Atherton on Friday evening.

It will be alleged that the 30-year-old man has been in a vehicle driving along Main Street Atherton at about 8.50pm when he has exited the vehicle and confronted another male known to him before punching him and knocking him to the ground.

The man is scheduled to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on October 10, charged with one count of public nuisance.

Drink driving, Atherton: An Edmonton woman didn’t learn her lesson the first time she was arrested after a traffic intercept in Atherton on Saturday morning.

It will be alleged police intercepted the 23-year-old woman on Louise Street at about 2.25am and when required to provide a roadside breath test, she returned an alleged reading of 0.143 per cent.

It will further be alleged that the same woman was again intercepted at about 3.25am on Maunds Road after moving her vehicle and she was located seated in the driver’s seat with the engine running. When required to provide another roadside breath test, she returned an alleged positive reading of 0.134 per cent.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on October 24, charged with one count each of unregistered vehicle and failing to transfer registration on purchased vehicle and two counts of drink driving.

Public nuisance, Mareeba: Police have charged a local man after an incident in Mareeba on Saturday evening.

It will be alleged that police were in attendance at the Mareeba Racecourse in relation to another matter when they heard a fight breakout between an 18-year-old man and another person.

The man is scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on October 3, charged with one count of public nuisance.

Drink driving, Mareeba: Police have charged a local woman after a traffic incident in Mareeba on Saturday evening.

It will be alleged that police intercepted the 35-year-old woman on Moody Street at about 8.10pm and when required to provide a roadside breath test, she returned a reading of 0.090 per cent. It will also be alleged that the vehicle she was driving was unregistered and she was unlicensed.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court later today, charged with one count each of drink driving, drive unregistered vehicle and unlicenced driving.
