Third annual Islah’s Sparkle Challenge
This coming Saturday afternoon, September 12, the 3rd Annual Islah’s Sparkle charity rugby league match will take place between officers of the Queensland Police Service and the Royal Australian Army 3rd Brigade. It will be the curtain raiser for the final Townsville Blackhawks home game at Brothers Leagues Club in Townsville.
Townsville Tactical Crime Squad’s Senior Constable Alex Fisher has worked tirelessly once again in order to raise money to help a struggling local family as their precious little girl, Islah, fights with a very difficult and rare disease known as Tay-Sachs disease. Islah is the only child in Australia living with the disease.
Senior Constable Fisher said he is hoping to raise more money and out-do the amazing $23,000 that has been raised to date.
“Even though there is a great camaraderie between the Army and Police out on the footy field, this will be a tough match,” Senior Constable Fisher said.
“Nothing like the battle that young Islah faces every day though and we are just proud to be able to assist the family in any way we can.”
During and after the match, spectators will be able to place bids in the Silent Auction, located inside Brothers Leagues Club, with some items including:
- 2015 Premiership Winning NQ Cowboys Jersey signed by the team
- Signed Qld State of Origin Merchandise
So come down to Jack Manski Oval on Saturday August 12 to watch Queensland’s finest take on the Royal Australian Army, in this the 3rd Annual Islah’s Sparkle Charity Match. Afterwards, stay on for the auction and watch the Intrust Super-cup match.
