This was no test drive, car theft in South Mackay
A Toyota Camry has been allegedly cheekily stolen from a car sales yard metres away from several sales people at the time.
At 3:35 pm on August 14, a female had been talking to a car sales-person as several cars for sale were in the process of being moved in the display area at a business in Paradise Street. As this was happening, the female is alleged to have entered the Toyota Camry (which had keys in the ignition) and drove straight out of the compound.
At the time, the car still had brightly coloured display stickers with the purchase amount on display.
The stolen car was located at about 5pm on August 14, after it had struck a tree on the roadside near the intersection of Bald Hill Road in Glenella and the Bruce Highway. The damage to the car was extensive.
Police received the following descriptions of two people who they believe may help with the investigations into this incident:
- female, 5 feet 6 inches tall, dark brown hair tied up in two pony tails, wearing black tights and a white lyrca top.
- male, caucasian in appearance, stubble on face wearing an off white cap
