Shop steal, public nuisance and obstruct police, Hyde Park
Police have charged a man following an incident that occurred at a shopping centre in Hyde Park on Saturday morning.
It will be alleged around 8.10am a man stole a roast chicken and a loaf of bread from a grocery store on Kings Road.
The man then approached another man sitting on a bench and allegedly demanded a cigarette before making further threats towards him.
Police attended the scene and arrested the man, and while escorting him to the rear of the police vehicle he allegedly fled.
An officer attempted to detain the man and was dragged to the ground causing an injury to the officer’s knee.
The man was located a short time later in the yard of a house on Stretton Street and taken into custody.
A 25-year-old Palm Island man was charged with shop stealing, beg for goods in a public place, public nuisance and two counts of obstruct police.
He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on October 31.
Drink driving, Hermit Park
A woman has been charged with drink driving following a traffic intercept in Hermit Park on Saturday morning.
At about 2am police have intercepted a vehicle on Ackers Street. Police will allege that the vehicle was observed initially at the intersection of Charters Towers Road and Bayswater Road where it mounted the centre medium strip before swerved into the left hand lanes.
It will be alleged that the woman recorded a positive blood alcohol concentration of 0.114%.
She is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on October 24.
