Truckies are welcome to stop in for a coffee and bacon roll tomorrow, Friday August 25

It’s Road Safety Week and for our truckies, it’s your lucky day!

Truck drivers travelling along the Bruce Highway between 10am and 2pm just north of Babinda are encouraged to stop, rest and revive at the Truck Pad site. Take some time out, have a chat with the TMR Inspectors and police.

Our team are delivering a dedicated, educational roadside event this Friday at the rest area, just North of Babinda on the Southbound of the Bruce Highway.

The day is aimed at raising awareness and assisting with achieving compliance within our audience of drivers in the heavy vehicle industry, promoting safety on our roads in Queensland.

The department has placed the emphasis of this event on education rather than enforcement. So please, should you have any questions you would like to ask the team, call in and grab a coffee and bacon roll on us.

  • Friday August 25 between 10am and 2pm
  • Truck Pads north of Babinda on the southbound lanes.
  • Bruce Highway, Babinda.

Friday’s theme is Fatigue and the message is don’t drive tired. Fatigue can affect anyone, and not just our heavy vehicles on the road. So speak up for road safety and avoid fatigue as part of Queensland Road Safety Week.

Fatigue is a particular issue in Queensland, with the vast distances between some towns making it all the more important for drivers to plan their trips, particularly truck drivers who are regularly doing the long hauls.

We want people to wake up to fatigue. After work, hit the couch not the road. Avoid driving when you’re tired. 10 hours a day is the maximum you should drive. On long trips, rest every two hours for at least 15 minutes.

If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.

You can report information about crime anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a registered charity and community volunteer organisation, by calling 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppersqld.com.au 24hrs per day.
