Unlawful use of a motor vehicle, Ipswich District
Police have arrested a man following a number of incidents involving a number of alleged stolen vehicles in the Ipswich area this morning.
Officers were called to a number of rural properties early this morning following reports that a man in a ute was acting suspiciously in the area.
Enquiries made by police have identified the ute was allegedly stolen from Greenslopes yesterday
Officers sighted the ute a number of times in the Ipswich District earlier this morning.
Police were informed at 8.30am that the vehicle now located at a quarry at Purga, with workers having blocked the ute in with their machinery.
The man then allegedly fled the scene on foot and stole another vehicle from a property nearby.
Police followed this stolen vehicle to Warwick Road in Yamanto where it was abandoned.
The man then allegedly forced the driver and a passenger of a passing car out of their vehicle and police then arrived on scene as the man locked himself in the car.
Police were forced to smash the window and the man was then taken into custody.
The man was taken to hospital for observation in relation to a medical condition and no one else was physically injured as a result of the incidents.
A 29-year-old man is currently assisting police with their enquiries and investigations are ongoing.
