Update 2: Escape custody, Emerald – man arrested at Nerang

Police yesterday arrested a 17-year-old man at Nerang after he allegedly fled from lawful custody at Emerald on August 15.

He was charged with six offences including escape lawful custody, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving and stealing.

He appeared in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody to re-appear at the same court on September 13.

Police are continuing to appeal for assistance to locate a man who escaped police custody in Emerald Tuesday afternoon (August 15).

Around 5pm, officers were transporting the 17-year-old from court to the watchhouse when he broke free.

The man ran into a neighbouring back yard on Yamala Street a stole a white Nissan Navara. The vehicle was subsequently located at Springsure around 9pm on Tuesday.

He is described as Caucasian, 180 centimetres tall with a slim build, brown hair and brown eyes.

The whereabouts of the man is unknown but he has connections with the Gold Coast, however may still be in the Springsure area. Anyone who has seen the man or has further information is urged to contact police.
