Update: Assault, South Mackay

Police have charged a 22-year-old man following investigations into an incident that occurred in a unit at South Mackay on October 23.

Around 4.30pm, police were called to an address on Morley Street following reports that a woman had been assaulted.

A 72-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Mackay Base Hospital.

A 22-year-old South Mackay man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court this afternoon.
