Update: Police officer wounded, South Brisbane

A man has been charged following the alleged wounding of a police officer in South Brisbane last night.

Around 10pm, the officer responded to reports of a man causing a disturbance on Grey Street.

It will be alleged the officer and the man were involved in a brief struggle before the officer received a wound under the jawline from what is believed to be a pair of scissors.

The 54-year-old male sergeant was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment to a non-life-threatening injury where he remains in a stable condition.

A 25-year-old Armstrong Creek man has been charged with one count each of acts intended to resist lawful arrest (unlawful wounding), going armed so as to cause fear, serious assault police, possession of dangerous drug and obstruct police.

He is expected to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.
