Update: Robbery and car theft charges, Townsville

Police have charged a 16-year-old boy with a number of offences after the alleged unlawful use of motor vehicles and robberies in North Queensland over the weekend.

It will be alleged around 12.00am on Sunday, September 17, a Toyota Camry and Holden Commodore were stolen from a house in Benjamina St, Cairns.

At about 5:50am police observed the two vehicles on the Bruce Highway near Bluewater. Police deployed a tyre deflation device and successfully deflated the tyres of the Holden Commodore. The Toyota Camry stopped in front of the Commodore and the occupants of the Commodore got into the Camry and continued to drive south.

Around 7am on Sunday, a 57-year-old man was assaulted in Second Street in Railway Estate, Townsville, when he was approached by four males who attempted to steal the car.

At 11.10am on Sunday, a Camry entered the drive through of a bottle shop on Bayswater Road at Garbutt. The front and rear passenger-side occupants got out and stole a quantity of alcohol.

Around 11.30am at Sanctuary Drive a woman was threatened by someone in a Camry and a Toyota Landcruiser was stolen.

At 5.14am today, September 18, a boy entered a house on Willowbank Drive Kirwan and stole a Toyota Hilux from the garage.

Police located a teenage boy at a residence in Cavendish Street Pimlico at 12.25pm today, September 18.

A 16-year-old Pimlico boy has been charged with four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of burglary, robbery in company, robbery with violence, fail to stop, driving without a licence and receiving tainted property.

Investigations are continuing.
