Update: Serious assault, Mooloolaba
Detectives have charged a 36-year-old man following the alleged assault of a man in Mooloolaba on Tuesday morning.
It will be alleged around 5.40am a 49-year-old man disturbed a group of men who appeared to be breaking into a car on Parkyn Parade when he was struck in head with a hammer.
The man was treated at Sunshine Coast University Hospital for facial injuries he sustained during the assault.
Police arrested a 36-year-old man, of no fixed address, yesterday and charged him with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.
He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning.
Detectives have released CCTV of the incident as investigations continue to identify another three men involved and a black Holden Cruze captured at the scene.
