Walk like an Egyptian – Shoplifting, North Mackay
Shortly after 6:30pm on October 30 a male, approximately 19-years-old entered a grocery store on Evans Avenue, North Mackay. Thanks to CCTV recordings this person’s movements were tracked throughout the store. The following actions are alleged:
- He proceeded to aisle 1, removed a packet of lollies from the shelf. He placed them in his pants pocket.
- He moved to a rear aisle of the store, he took a flavoured milk off the shelf, he placed the milk down the front of his pants.
- He moved to the freezer section, he removed a tub of ice cream and also placed it down the front of his pants.
- While present in the freezer section, he also consumed a box of ice cream.
- He returned to aisle 1, he has removed multiple individual chocolate bars and also blocks of chocolate from shelves. Any guesses for where he put them? If you said “in his pants” – you would be right.
- He then proceeded to the checkout where he purchased two small chocolates for $2 and then left the store.
The full description for the male involved is Caucasian in appearance, approximately 19 years of age, solid build, about 182 centimetres tall, brown hair and wearing a baggy white shirt with black cargo pants, also wearing a black baseball cap with a white star on the front. Anyone with information regarding this matter is encouraged to call the Mackay police station on 0749 683 444 or you can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously any time of the day. The police reference number is QP1701908175.
How any one can walk at all with so many items stuffed down the front of their pants is noteworthy (special mention must go to the frozen ice cream taken from the freezer here). A sideways shuffling walk like an egyptian method comes to mind only.
