Warning for residents in Andergrove
We are again issuing a warning for residents in the Andergrove area after some residents were impacted by thieves stealing from cars over the weekend.
In all reported instances – thieves were targeting unlocked cars in and around residential driveways exclusively with cash appearing to be the primary target. Police are appealing for any resident in the Banyan Street and Newton Street area of Andergrove who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour over the weekend (at any time of the day) to contact the Mackay Northern Beaches police station on 0749 697 666 or you can call crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
After conducting enquiries with residential CCTV systems in the area, officers are keen to speak to a person fitting the following description :
- male, mid 20’s in age, Caucasian appearance, slim build, long curly hair in a pony tail, partial facial hair, wearing a hoodie with a high visibility stripe, a large prominent watch, a chain necklace and no footwear at all. Using a cigarette lighter to assist with visibility.
We encourage all car owners – regardless of where you live – never to leave your car unlocked when it is unattended. Crooks love finding unlocked cars – they love it to bits.
If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.
You can report information about crime anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a registered charity and community volunteer organisation, by calling 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppersqld.com.au 24hrs per day.
