West Mackay resident disturbs three intruders inside home
The resident of a home in Paulette Street, West Mackay was asleep at 11:35pm on October 13 when they were woken by noises coming from their kitchen. When they went to check on the cause of the noises three male intruders were found to be standing in their kitchen.
All three males have quickly ran from the house – the resident then observed a silver sedan drive past the house and leave the area. It’s believed nothing has been stolen but the intruders did search cupboards and drawers which were left open.
Police have received the following descriptions :
- Three males all believed to be either in their late teens or early twenties, all indigenous in appearance, all wearing dark coloured tracksuit pants and tops, two were wearing baseball style caps and one wearing a cowboy styled hat, one male had long black hair.
Patrols made by police in the area to locate any one on foot or a silver sedan were not successful. Police are asking for anyone who saw suspicious activity or who has information linked to this offence to call the Mackay police station on 0749 683 444 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 any time. The police reference number is QP1701790860.
Many residents own security sliding doors which have mesh fitted in their homes. In this instance the intruders gained entry into the home by cutting the mesh and reaching through to unlock the locking mechanism. The golden rule for residents is – if you finger lock these sliding doors, crooks can unlock them with their fingers also, only key-locking can prevent this from taking place.
