What was the one and only thing stolen from a car in South Mackay?

A thief has forced entry through a window into a car parked in the driveway of a home in Graffunder Street, South Mackay – despite conducting a thorough search through out the entire car interior (moving car seats to do so) only one thing was stolen.

A set of keys left hanging on the rear view mirror – the keys are not linked to the car in any way.

Other items we might typically expect to be stolen in this situation remained untouched – if anything highlights the importance our thieves are placing on obtaining keys this is it!

The theft occurred between 5pm and 10:10pm on October 23.

While we are becoming used to the warnings from police about where we place our keys around our homes – it would pay well to heed the lesson learned from this incident also. Don’t leave your keys in a visible spot inside of your car when unattended – it may be a temptation that a crook won’t resist.
