What’s the first place a burglar searches after entering your home?

What’s the first place a burglar searches after entering your home?

It’s a good question – the burglars in our district are giving us a clear answer too it seems.

Answer: kitchen benches and dining tables.

Our handbags, wallets, smart-phones and cash are being stolen from this location during burglaries. The most common item being found at this location in our homes however are our car keys – YES, that old chestnut!

We have had another example of this type of activity reported to us in Mackay today. A resident of Patton Street, South Mackay advises that between October 20 and October 24 a burglar has gained entry into their home through the unlocked front door.

The one and only item stolen from inside the home was a set of car keys which had been left on the dining table. Unfortunately the car keys were used to steal the white 1997 model Toyota Corolla sedan, registration number 165 XOV which had been parked in the back yard of the home.

We don’t have an image of the stolen car to share with you unfortunately.

If you have any information linked to the current location of this stolen car or the burglary itself, please call the Mackay police station on 0749 683 444 or you can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 anonymously any time of the day. The police reference number is QP1701868233.

What do you keep on your kitchen bench and dining table?

If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.
